Trading Advisors
Trading Advisors is a division of Commodity
Traders Club (CTCN). Commodity Traders Club is a "commodity futures
knowledge network" ® . . . centralized location or trading clearing
house, for experienced traders or new traders wishing to learn about or get
started in commodity futures or other trading & investing. CTCN members
voluntarily exchange commodities and futures trading information, experiences
and ideas with others. This results in us all obtaining knowledge or insight
into various commodity trading methods, including both "day trading"
& position trades, futures trading products, investment services, market
data, commodity brokers, etc. Our CTCN club members may make money or save
money & achieve real success at trading & investing.
Trading Advisors was born out of a need identified by "a CTCN subscriber." He has been
trading the futures and currency markets for a few years and is the designer of
reportedly a very highly successful daytrading system for the E-Mini Nasdaq. We strongly
believes that many traders are looking for that extra bit of assistance with
trading the markets. Not all of us several hours available each day to scan and
pore over charts. And those of us who do find that often there are confusing
and conflicting signals.
Finally, when we do in fact take the trade we
have to face a whole new set of problems - difficult decisions that have to be
made on trade management - where to put our Stops, when to take profit, when to
add positions, etc, etc.
Trading Advisors aims to take the stress out of
much of this activity. We help you with all these decisions by giving clear buy
and sell signals and guiding you on a daily basis with regard to your trade
management. We are dedicated to the business of highlighting very clear and
concise decision-making opportunities. Of course, we can do the analysis but
you still have to make the decisions.
Our Strategy
We trade only those markets that provide us
with trending opportunities and less overall risk, and extremely well diversified.
Typically we will avoid
markets like the Nasdaq Index which may have big intra-day swings, high volatility and
require large stops. We also try and stay away from markets that display
gapping tendencies and show erratic price action similar to Pork Bellies.
Markets that often go limit up or limit down present difficult trading
conditions. We do not believe you have to trade every market to be profitable
and a selective approach can usually provide better quality decisions and
superior long-term results.
At Trading Advisors we search for trades with
minimum risk and tight Stops using 7 diverse futures markets. Positions can be held for
several days in strongly trending markets. In most cases the stops are fairly tight
(typically well under $1,000) but at other times stops may be held back to allow a market to
consolidate and resume its trend. We also may occasionally bump-up stop-loss orders
to either lock-in some profits or reduce risk.
Our trading approach also usually results in fewer trades and savings in brokerage as we are
not always in every market we follow.
Of course, fewer and more profitable trades means that you might not always be
in the market and may spend some time sitting on the sidelines waiting for a
set up to mature. If you are the sort of trader that likes to be in the market
all the time, this type of trading may not suit you. We on the other hand
prefer to have fewer trades with bigger profits and less stress from constant
ins and outs.
There may be days where there are no setups or
trading opportunities. Conversely, there may be days when there are lots of set
ups. We don't decide the frequency of trades; we allow the markets to dictate
that. Our focus is very much on technical analysis with little regard for the
fundamentals. We believe that most of the knowledge in the market place is
already reflected in the price action on the chart. We do however consider the
data on commitment of traders, which we believe is a useful piece of the
puzzle, and closely related to price action.
